About the Author:

Margaret Chula lived in Kyoto Japan for twelve years where she taught creative writing at universities. She also studied the traditional arts of woodblock printing and flower arrangement. She has published five award-winning collections: Grinding my ink; This Moment; Shadow Lines (with Rich Youmans); Always Filling, Always Full; The Smell of Rust; and What Remains: Japanese Americans in Internment Camps. Her poems have appeared in Prairie Schooner, Kyoto Journal, Poet Lore, America's Review and Runes. She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she continues to lecture and teach workshops at universities, Zen centers and poetry organizations. Grants from Oregon Literary Arts and the Regional Arts & Culture Council have supported collaborations with artists, musicians, photographers, and dancers. The cover of This Moment is an original woodblock by her teacher in Kyoto, Richard Steiner.
