Bun (“boon”) Yom’s first-hand story of his capture by the Khmer Rouge Regime at 14-years-old, the deplorable conditions while he worked as a slave in the Killing Fields, his escape into the Cambodian jungle, and Bun’s ultimate rise to becoming the greatest leader of the Cambodian Freedom Fighters. An unmatched tale of suffering, courage and heroism.

After three years as a killing field slave, seventeen-year-old Bun Yom escaped from the Khmer Rouge and became a “Freedom Fighter.” Using his wisdom, courage, and unprecedented compassion, Bun rescued thousands of Cambodian people and soon became the Cambodian Freedom Army’s greatest soldier. This is his story.Review:
I met Bun quite by accident one day, I had no idea who he was then. I was instantly intrigued by his outgoing nature and equally confused as I listened to stories in broken English...trying to make sense of what he was telling me, things I had never before heard about Khmer Rouge, death and starvation, daring rescues...my mind was trying to process all this when a mutual friend mentioned a book. He had a copy in the car, and let me take it home. I began reading it that day, and I literally could not put it down. I asked my teenage son to read it not much of a reader, I told him to read just one page. That he was willing to do. The next morning, he told me he read that one page, but he couldn t put it down..he stayed up all night reading the entire book. And that is the story I get from everyone I ve given the book to. I can t stress enough the importance of spreading this story and those like it... this is history (although all-too-recent) that we all should know and remember. People are still suffering in Cambodia, and we can do so much with so little to help them I highly recommend this book, not just for the reader s benefit, but because buying it helps save lives today in Cambodia. This is the only charity I trust to give 100% to the ones in need. Bun thank you for sharing your story, for your kindness, your friendship, and your awesome sense of humor! You are a gift to us all. I can t wait for the next book! --Niki
This book is something everyone should read. Young and old! Not only is this a wonderful teaching in modern history but a testimony of how much a human (mind, body and soul) can go through and survive! I personally know Bun, He is the most kind and humble man. Sometimes I look at him and wonder how a root of bitterness has not taken hold of him, but it hasn t. When Bun speaks of the lack of food and medical supplies in the poorest areas of Cambodia, I see a passion that pours out of him. 100% of the proceeds return to Cambodia, he gives to them before giving to himself. If only more people had that kind of passion, this world would be such a better place. Bun has been a blessing to my family, just to be in a two hour conversation around the coffee table leaves me with hope, love and forgiveness! I pray blessings over Bun s book. May you sell more than you ever dreamed possible! --Penny Johnson and Family
I am writing this to tell people of my experience of reading Bun Yom s book, Tomorrow I m Dead. I met Bun while working at a store in Ellensburg, Washington. Although I had heard of Bun from a lot of people in town before we meet. He would come into the store everyday and we would talk a lot. He is an amazing man. I didn t know how amazing until I read his book. He gave me a copy of his book and when I started reading it, I truly could not put it down. I read it twice. I never read a book twice. After reading his book and hearing about his life in the killing fields, the thing that struck me the most about Bun is how much he loves life after all he had been through as a child. His book is so inspiring to all, young and old. I hope everyone gets the chance to read his book. It is something that all kids in school should read. It is a lesson in perseverance, hope and love. He has a saying that he says everyday to all he comes into contact with Hang in there. He still wants to help people and sees the good in all things. My life has been enriched by being his friend and reading his amazing book. If you read his book you will understand this. Even more so if you are lucky enough to meet him. He will embrace you as a friend and would do anything to help if you needed it. --Sysy
