"'The best thing about The Tyranny of Gun Control' is Jacob Hornberger's skill as a polemicist. Out of 14 essays, he owns five of them, including 'The Nazi Mindset in America' and 'Loving Your Country and Hating Your Government,' an amusing rhapsody on President Clinton's inability to fathom the attitude alluded to in the title. They really are something to behold. I founder myself rereading some of them for pleasure. A few samples: 'What would be President Clinton's position with respect to the War for Independence?... William Jefferson Clinton would have said to Thomas Jefferson: 'There's nothing patriotic about hating your government or pretending you can hate your government but love your country.'" -- Brian Bartels, Liberty magazine
"A must read for anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the true meaning of the Second Amendment--and how it came to be seen as a sine qua non of the Bill of Rights--The Tyranny of Gun Control is, in the final analysis, an essential work for everyone concerned about the fate of human liberty." -- Dave Carew, Tennessee Libertarian Party newsletter
"This book's 14 chapters offer an uncompromising look at tough issues such as the assault weapons scam, public and private terrorism, what the Second Amendment means, and more. The book's overall theme links the deterioration of American society to a failure of its citizens to adhere to the principles of freedom, but offers hope, because more and more Americans are questioning the socialistic welfare state that America has become." -- The NRA's American Guardian, April 1998
"We'll take one example among the dozens in this book. President Clinton has condemned Americans who criticize their government: "There's nothing patriotic about hating your government and pretending you can hate your government but love your country." Does Clinton occupy the moral high ground? Not after he confronts Jacob Hornberger, president of The Future of Freedom Foundation." -- Conservative Book Club

He is the founder and president of the Future of Freedom Foundation. He was a candidate for the Libertarian Party's presidential nomination in 2000, as well as a candidate for the United States Senate election in Virginia in 2002. Hornberger then left the practice of law in 1987 to become director of programs at the Foundation for Economic Education. He is a regular writer and commentator and has advanced freedom and free markets on various international media-platforms. These have included Fox News' Neil Cavuto, Greta van Susteren and on Judge Andrew Napolitano's show Freedom Watch. The right to own firearms is one of the most fundamental, inherent rights of man. Not only do individuals have the natural right to own property, they also have the basic right to defend themselves from murderers, rapists, thieves, burglars, and other violent people in society. Most important, individuals have the right to defend themselves from the oppressive, tyrannical acts of their own government.
