Laminated 4-color soft cover, 368 pages including over 70 illustrations. Book text is written in both English and French in the same book. The first edition of this book was printed as a hardbound book in 1994. The new edition has improved graphics and more illustrations.
The author describes the life of a typical French settler to New France (Quebec) in the 1600's. He describes life in France, the long ship journey to North America, and day-to-day life in Quebec and Midwestern United States. He examines later French Canadian migrations to other parts of Canada and to the eastern and Midwestern United States to the early 1900's. This book does not concentrate on names and dates as much as allowing us to experience everyday life in France, Quebec, and the United States for these early settlers that represented the largest wave of pioneers from France to North America.

This book is unique in offering an interesting portrayal of history from the eyes of the early pioneer from his travels from France to Quebec and later to the United States. This group of pioneers from France in the mid-1600's represented the largest wave of immigrants to come to Quebec in its history. Most French Canadians are descendants of this original wave of French settlers.
The beautiful cover of this book illustrated on the front and back reproduces paintings of small town Quebec villages. From the Author:
Comments from buyers of my first edition published in 1994 were that the readers enjoyed the everyday life descriptions of these early settlers to North America describing everything from the turbulent wars of France in the late 1500's and early 1600's to the dominance of these French descendants in Quebec culture today and their integration into many eastern and Midwestern United States towns.
