April L. Dunn was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia in Textiles. April is a freelance Sewing Educator that has been Swiss-trained and travels around the US and Italy conducting classes and seminars on sewing and serging. Her credits include: writing the decorative thread brochure for YLI; two Italian serger training videos-1996; contributing designer for the books Sew and Serge Terrific Textures; A Creative Needle Christmas. bi-monthly column in Creative Needle called Marketplace; aritcles in Creative Needle, Sewing Update, Serger Update, Sew News, Round Bobbin and Sewing Professional magazines.
She has been an instructor at the following schools: American Sewing Guild National Convention 1997 - Houston Martha Pullen's School of Art Fashion 1989, 1990, 1996; Rocky Mountain Sewing Festival 1995, 1996, 1997; Sewing at the Ocean 1994 - Melbourne, FL; Sewing in the Mountains 1990 to 1993 - Maggie Valley, NC; Sewing with Elna in the Heartlands 1992 - Columbus, OH; Sewing with Elna in Olde Sacramento 1991; Elna Impact 1988 to 1994, 1997. Also she has taught for many dealers, sewing and smocking guilds/clubs across the United States and Canada.
