Chapter 1, A New Spirituality: The nature and behavior of human beings and humanity are curiosities pondered and debated ever since we humans gained the capacity to do so. There are those who contend that we are born with the basest of instincts and cruelest intent. Unless conditioned by rigid rules of behavior, they believe humanity is destined to writhe in the mud until it destroys itself and everything else. Others believe in the inherent goodness of human nature and that only outside influence twists and distorts that goodness. A diverse range of perceptions lies within those polarities. In our world there is evidence to support the veracity of every one of those theories. They are contradictions, yet each is a truth; a paradox this book will later explain. There is one truth about the basic nature of human beings and humanity that is without contradiction. It is that each of us has an inherent longing and drive to find and develop our personal connection to our Source and to return to it. To return Home. That is our spirituality and it is a theme found in every civilization throughout history, the thread that connects them. Our spiritual nature is evidenced today, in part, by the existence of some 30,000 religions worldwide. But religion itself is not spirituality. A religion is a system of beliefs created to contain and control the spiritual flame at its core. The physical structures--some like fortresses--built around the world by various religions are symbolic of the rigid formation of rules and laws of those religious organizations, but they are not manifestations of spirituality. Spirituality is our personal, free, living, loving relationship with our Source. As we explore and intensify that personal relationship, our awareness expands and we break through the structures of religion and other limiting belief systems--such as atheism. We reach and stretch beyond them. That is spiritual growth. Spirituality, then, is our unique, loving relationship with our Source and our fundamental urge to reunite with It. Our spirituality is also the way in which we develop that relationship, the means by which we return Home. We are propelled on our journey Home, whether in one lifetime or over many, by continually forming and reforming belief systems, ever lighter and freer--having fewer and fewer limitations, breaking through each as our awareness expands. But awareness of what? Sooner or later, it is the awareness of our personal power to change our reality by consciously changing ourself and learning how to expedite those changes. That is a major step in our personal growth. This book offers insights and suggestions for achieving personal growth elegantly--without the pain and struggle that got us this far. Personal growth clears our Homeward path, opening the way for spiritual growth. The awareness we gain will eventually become the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom that this physical world is an illusion, a hologram, and that each of us is an eternal consciousness which exists simultaneously on many levels of reality. This book offers an explanation of the creation and evolution of consciousness for the reader to consider, to sit with, to ponder. The following chapters explore the changes now occurring in the world. In the consensus reality, many anticipate changes which will precipitate the "second coming" of Christ, a belief that Jesus will literally return to our physical world. A higher truth is that it is Christ-consciousness that is returning, that it is compassion, understanding, emotional expression, and unconditional love that is returning--feminine principles for so long devalued and denied in our world. The essence of Jesus, the man, the essence of Christ-consciousness, the essence of feminine principles--each is an expression of One that humanity turned its back on eons ago, and She is returning--though it was never She who left us. The changes in the world are related to Her return. Ultimately, in our expansion of awareness, we will come to know, once more, the Goddess--and to open to Her love. Her existence has been denied and memory of Her obliterated over thousands of years of patriarchal civilizations. She did not abandon us, we turned away from Her. But She, and the true God, are returning to help those who so choose create a new world. Not to fix the old world. To create a brand new world in our holographic illusion, as brilliant as we are willing to allow it to be. The Goddess and true God are the essence of our new spirituality, which, in its intricacy, is the adventure of a lifetime. Our new spirituality is personal growth which leads to spiritual growth. It is living our spiritual truth, whatever it might be, every day--making it the basis and motivation for everything we do. Our new spirituality is consciously taking more and more responsibility for creating everything in our life and having personal power and freedom in return. It is discovering our divinity and humanity by finding and establishing self-value. Our new spirituality is opening to the Goddess and receiving Her love. It is meeting the true, loving God, so unlike the deities created as reflections of the worst in human nature. Our new spirituality is letting go of the old reality paradigm chained to the past--and opting for a new paradigm focusing on the future. Our new spirituality is unlimited by inflexible rules based upon domination and fear. It is a faster track for the journey Home. The chapters which follow are windows, perhaps doors, to concepts outside of the consensus perception of reality and truth. They offer insights into why each of us chose to be born into this lifetime. Insights into how we can become our truer self, our spiritual self. These chapters are offered as avenues to explore in your spiritual travels.
