About the Author:
Cooking columnist, chef, instructor, and cookbook editor Cathy Rogers creates a tasteful and fun look into the kitchens and restaurants in Malibu's Cooking Again. The book was inspired when a local firestorm devasted the community through the loss of 400 homes. Begun as a fund raiser to assist families who lost their homes, editor Rogers brought together everyone from local firefighters to gourmet chefs to accomplish her goal. Cathy Rogers has taught cooking classes through UCLA Extension, Neiman Marcus, Williams Sonoma and other prominent venues.
Review:
Many a cookbook has been published after a natural disaster, but not many in a disaster area as classy as Malibu...Malibu is significant restaurant territory, and the book features recipes from local stars like Granita, Bambu, Saddle Peak Lodge, Geoffrey's, Marmalade and Beau Rivage, to say nothing of the contributions from Valentino, Lula, Drago, Michael's, Primi and other restaurants in nearby communities. There are also recipes from residents (including the mother of the original Gidget) and Fire Station 88. The cover is by well known Los Angeles artist Laddie John Dill. -- Charles Perry, Los Angeles Times
