Synopsis

Many people know more about the moon which is 250,000 miles from earth then they do about themselves. This lack of knowledge is the result of the fact that most people seem to try to find out about themselves by looking around rather than at and within themselves. In this book you will be able to look into your own body, your body's nervous system, where all things that have happened to you from the time of conception are recorded. Through the use of procedures that you will learn, you will be able to literally ask if the body has any phobias, fears, anxieties, unresolved issues or evidence of post traumatic stress syndrome.

Chapter 1 Your Body Knows

Everything that has ever happened to you is recorded in your nervous system - everything. From the moment of conception, to your birth and up to today, every change in the physical, chemical and emotional condition of your mother, which had an effect on you, positively or negatively, is recorded. Any trauma that occurred during your birth is recorded. Everything that happens to you throughout your entire life is recorded. Everything that is said to you is recorded. Everything you see, hear, feel, touch, taste or smell that affects you on a physical, chemical or emotional basis is recorded in your nervous system. The way this affects you depends on how effectively your nervous system is functioning.

Fortunately, your body has a screening or filter system that neutralizes many of the adverse effects of these events, so that you are not overwhelmed with non life-threatening information. This system, when functioning normally, sorts the important information (that affecting survival) from the not-so-important information. When this system is not functioning normally, stimuli that ordinarily would not bother us are allowed to create a state of fear or anxiety because we begin to view the stimuli as life threatening, rather than just a mild disturbance. This system also acts on the life-threatening information and records survival procedures, which will help us if we encounter the same or similar events in the future. It also neutralizes the fight or flight mechanism for that event, so we are prepared to act on a new life threatening event if necessary.

We have all known individuals who have been affected by horrendous and/or tragic events suffered by themselves or by their loved ones, and who have grown from the experiences. Conversely, we all know individuals who crumble when facing the most minor problems like spilling a cup of water or being criticized. Others are afraid of common things that would not even bother most people. Those in the latter group have a malfunction in their screening system, which predisposes them to "make mountains out of mole hills".

Most of what is recorded is not in your conscious memory but rather in your sub-conscious where it can affect you physically, chemically, or emotionally throughout your life. Dr. George J. Goodheart, Jr., a chiropractic physician and lecturer, always starts his seminars with quotations from the great humanitarian and physician, Dr. Albert Schweitzer and the renowned researcher Dr. Hans Selye. The first said, "Happiness is good health and a bad memory." The words of Dr. Hans Selye are, "God will forgive you but your nervous system will not." Goodheart explains that if you do not correct the disturbance in the nervous system, there will be adverse effects in the physical, chemical and emotional sides of the health triangle. (More on this in Chapter 4.)

There are two basic fundamentals of life - happiness and misery (unhappiness). The dictionary defines happiness as "the state of well-being and contentment or pleasurable satisfaction." It defines misery as "a condition of great suffering, a state of emotional distress."

It would then follow that the state of real or imagined fear which makes up a phobia, produces anxieties, addictions, love pain, rejection, post traumatic stress syndrome, compulsive behavior, self-limiting and self-destructive negative life beliefs. Fear causes misery.

Fear, real or imagined, produces pain. This can be physical and/or mental. We've all heard the expression, "I just can't think (or talk) about that, it's too painful", or "thinking (or talking) about that gives me a headache." In his book Quantum Healing, Deepak Chopra discussed the fact that the brain produces internal painkillers, endorphins and enkephalins, which every neuron in the body has the ability to produce. These natural narcotics made by the body are up to two hundred times stronger than any man made pain killers and are nonaddictive. He goes on to suggest the possibility of doctors anesthetizing their patients by stimulating some regions of the brain through the use of Chinese acupuncture.

This book is not about covering up pain with natural internal pain killers, but rather balancing the subtle energies of the acupuncture system so the individual can deal with his/her fears. If the body, in the process, eliminates physical pain as well, so be it.

Gabriel Cousens, M.D., in his introduction for the book, Vibrational Medicine, by Gerber says, "...we, as human organisms, are a series of interacting multidimensional subtle energy systems, and that if these energy systems become imbalanced there may be resulting pathological symptoms which manifest on the physical/emotional/mental/spiritual planes."

Fortunately, there is a way to diagnose and treat the fear causing these adverse states. Your body knows what is causing this misery. Remember, everything has been recorded in the nervous system.

Because your body knows exactly what the problem is and will share this secret if asked, there is a way to handle all fears. The key to understanding and treating phobias is balancing the energies in the body with a very simple stimulation of specific acupuncture points. I call this Acu-POWER. The process is simple. By manually tapping on these points for about fifteen seconds and monitoring the body's responses, you can put an end to your misery and be free at last.
