When our great grandparents William and Sarah McCaw were crossing the plains, Sarah became very ill. One morning William needed to round up their cattle that had strayed during the night. He carried Sarah out of the wagon and placed her on a blanket underneath. Great Aunt Mary was just a year old at the time, but William put her down by her mother, knowing she would not crawl out of the wagon's shade onto the burning sand. When William returned several hours later, he found that Sarah and Mary were safe.
