Destination Baghdad is the intriguing story of the world-famous F-117A Nighthawk, the Stealth fighter that ushered in a new era for American aviation. It's a fascinating story told by the designer of the plane, the late Ben Rich, and by the pilots who flew the first flights over Baghdad to launch Operation Desert Storm in January 1991. These brave pilots were called upon to test America's pioneering stealth technology in warfare, and did so unscathed while knocking out Saddam Hussein's vaunted command and control facilities in what he had vowed would be the Mother of All Battles. Destination Baghdad is a fascinating story told by the designer who conceived this aviation breakthrough and the brave pilots who were the first to test it in the trials of battle.

Robert and Melinda Macy launched a successful publishing career with Destination Baghdad, the story of the F-117A Nighthawk Stealth fighter. Macy began writing stories about a classified aircraft being tested at the top secret Area 51 and Tonopah Test Range, north of Las Vegas, while he was head of The Associated Press Vegas bureau (from 1981 until his retirement in 2000). The Macys covered the plane's public unveiling at Nellis AFB in April 1990 and the emotional return of the Nighthawk pilots to Nellis following the combat debut of the black bat-winged planes in Operation Desert Storm. The Macys interviewed F-117A designer Ben Rich and many of the pilots who flew the first missions in Baghdad -- and retold those stories in their book, Destination Baghdad.
