Darlene Kvist, M.S., C.N.S., L.N., co-founder of Nutritional Weight & Wellness and co-author of Picture Book for Zone Cooks, has 30 years of experience as an educator and psychonutritional counselor. She is a licensed nutritionist and also earned the title of Certified Nutrition Specialist from the American College of Nutrition, a prestigious association composed of medical and research scientists whose purpose is to further nutrition research. She has been in private practice as a nutritional counselor and educator since the late 1970's. During this period her practice has grown from serving clients with weight management issues to serving a broad range of clients with unique health needs. She now has a very active practice that focuses on psychonutritional counseling, a unique form of counseling she developed which attends to a client's emotional as well as nutritional needs. In the past eight years, Nutritional Weight and Wellness has become a well-respected heal! th education and counseling business in the Twin Cities area. Darlene is an avid learner who has the ability to use scientific information in an intuitive, caring manner to assist clients in making lasting lifestyle changes in order to increase their overall sense of well being.
Carolyn Brooks, BS, co-founder of Nutritional Weight & Wellness and co-author of Picture Book for Zone Cooks, has been a health educator, whole foods instructor, nutrition lecturer and writer for the past 25 years. She is a psychonutritional counselor with a focus on weight management, hormone balance, Candida and food allergies. Psychonutritional counseling emphasizes that the food we use to fuel our bodies also affects our emotions, the way we feel about ourselves and the way we react to the world around us. Her passion is teaching people how to use food to promote healing and achieve emotional balance. She is able to assess individual client needs, provide them with the tools they need to change and the motivation to do so. Her major fields of study in college were health education and communication.
