In 1976 Dr Zaheer Ahmad, a Pakistani gastroenterologist, had the idea of a professional organization of Pakistani physicians in the US and Canada that would provide a platform for social gatherings and a vehicle for educational and humanitarian projects in Pakistan. His efforts led to the first meeting in 1977 of what was to become the APPNA, a formidable presence in the Pakistani and North American scene. APPNA Qissa is the story of the distance this organization has traveled from inception to the present.
