Collection of nine short stories captures the American experience. Mostly humorous and written from a wide variety of experiences. Stories are about the rich, the poor, the educated, the street-smart. What if you found a suitcase full of money? What if you came face-to-face with someone you'd just vented your road rage upon? What if you were a prisoner in quarantine? Robert Voyles won a cash award for one of the stories in this collection.

Robert Voyles was born in Fremont, Michigan, on January 17, 1952. He is a Vietnam-era veteran who became a buck sergeant while still in his teens. He worked as a truck driver, unit armorer and personnel clerk, and in civilian life as a long-haul trucker, corrections officer and--most recently--family manager. He's lived in South Korea, Germany, Italy, Michigan, Texas, North Carolina, Illinois and now, Minnesota. Robert Voyles is also a prize-winning poet. He lives with his wife and three teen daughters in Bloomington, Minnesota, just a stone-throw away from the Mall of America.Review:
It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what constitutes "American," since the United States is such a melting pot. But perhaps diversity is exactly what makes "Great New American Short Stories," so good. Voyles writes with the authenticity of the characters in mind. -- Reviewed for "The Forum" by Gail Gabrielson. Fargo Forum, Fargo, ND
