About the Author:
John Starkey is one of the leading Ferrari authorities in the world and is the author of a number of books and articles. He knows what he writes about, as he has been racing sports cars on hill climbs, rallies and circuits since he was 20 years old. Chris Renwick is perhaps one of the most knowledgeable experts in the historic car field and has been associated with collectible cars for most of his life. He has published, edited or co-authored a number of motoring books, including three Bentley books and Ferrari Forty Years on the Road. Philippe Olczyk has raced in Europe and America for a number of years including at the Le Mans 24 Hours, the Daytona 24 Hours, the Courage Porsche Cup and others.
Review:
A good case can be made that Ferrari has had more influence on motor racing in the past half century than any other marque. This impressive volume brings the sports racing record up to date while filling in some of the blanks. John Starkeys text narrates the development of each sports-racing Ferrari model, providing both a technical description and an account of every major racing event in which a Ferrari raced. The photographs and paintings chosen add a lot to the appeal of the book. Essential for students of Ferrari and a fine reference on postwar road racing. (Vintage Motorsport; Mar/Apr 199) Ferrari boffins will love the descriptions of each Ferrari sports car produced by the company. Coupled with the histories of the significant races the Ferrari cars drove in (either as works projects or in private hands) theres an excellent chassis-by-chassis archive of photographs, mainly in black & white, showing the cars in action. Some of the shots are wonderfully atmospheric and superbly reproduced. -- Classic Cars; Apr 1999
