Nantucket: A Collection is the latest in the "Locations" series that started in 1998 with I-94: A Collection of Southwest Michigan Writers. This new collection takes the reader into the hearts and minds of visitors and natives alike. Forty-five authors share with us their memories and ideas of Nantucket through their poetry and fiction.
While there are many books dealing with Nantucket's rich history of whaling and sailing, there are no books recording the current state of this island off in the Atlantic. Nantucket: A Collection fills that void with work by current writers from all over the United States as well as a few authors within biking distance of The Muse.
Brett Van Emst, who is currently the editor of the literary journal, Midnight Mind, put together a collection of previously published work by widely known authors and new work by new authors to provide readers with a view as wide as the bluffs on Nantucket itself. And, just as in all the books in the "Locations" series, the emphasis on the author behind the words is unmistakable with author bios prior to their work so the reader knows the writer's background.
