I wrote this book out of my frustration with looking for a cure to my own sleeplessness. The books about sleep I found had somewhat helpful information, but it was often presented in a dogmatic or scientific manner that didn't speak to my personal sleep needs. "The Sleep Book, A Bedside Companion" was written as a response to what was currently available on the subject. It takes the scientific jargon and translates it into layperson's terms. In addition I tried to make it entertaining, and a resource for discovering the cure to your own personal sleep needs. Sleeplessness is as individual as fingerprints, and I take the reader on a journey where they can discover the cause(s), and thereby the cure(s) to their sleeplessness. It is laid out in an easy-to-use fashion, since the goal was to make the subject of sleep accessible to everyone. I hope it works for you.From the Inside Flap:
A flock of sheep that leisurely pass by
One after one; the sound of rain, and bees
Murmuring; the fall of rivers, wind and seas,
Smooth fields, white sheets of water and pure sky;
I've thought of all by turns, and still I lie
Sleepless; and soon the small birds' melodies
I must hear, first utter'd from my orchard trees,
And the first Cuckoo's melancholy cry.
Even thus last night, and two nights more, I lie,
And could not coin thee, Sleep! by any stealth:
So do not let me wear to-night away.
Without thee what is all the morning's wealth?
Come, blessed barrier betwixt day and day,
Dear mother of fresh thoughts and joyous health.
