This gripping tale of murder, politics, conspiracy and passion takes aim at the American political system, the white supremacy movement and racial stereotypes while offering a sinister explanation for the 20-Year Jinx that has claimed the lives of seven presidents.
Young estate lawyer Benjamin Franklin Kravner discovers a cryptic poem among his murdered client's possessions that hints at a 160-year vendetta against the American presidency. Ben's skepticism wanes when he discovers an unusual phenomenon: the presidents elected every twenty years from 1840 through 1960 died in office, and Ronald Reagan barely survived an assassination attempt. Ben's perilous journey leads him to the answer to his question: is the poem merely a dead man's wacky conspiracy theory or is a powerful cabal primed to claim the White House as vengeance for their ancestor s death?

THE JINX is a gripping tale of murder, politics, conspiracy and passion that weaves a myriad of loose threads into a tightly woven fabric. Larry Kahn takes aim at the American political system, the white supremacy movement and racial stereotypes in one of the most thought-provoking and original novels of the decade.
"THE JINX dares us to set aside partisan politics and awaken the slumbering dream of Martin Luther King to mark the millennium presidential election. I can think of no better way to celebrate the new millennium than to elevate the eradication of racism to the nation's top priority."
-Nadine Strossen, President, American Civil Liberties Union and Professor of Law, New York Law School
"A marvelous read, intriguing, exciting and fun...The characters are whole and human, and the picture of life in a large law firm is spot on."
-Robert H. Preiskel, Civil Rights Advocate and Retired Chairman, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson
"An exciting and beautifully written book by an astute and articulate lawyer. Larry Kahn knows the law firm world and how to develop a plot realistically tied into that world. A most intriguing and believable story."
- Professor Quintin Johnstone, Yale Law School
"THE JINX kept me up way past my bedtime. It's a helluva yarn that bears an unnerving resemblance to today's headlines."
-Hugh B. Price, President, National Urban League
Larry Kahn was raised in the New York City suburbs and now resides in Atlanta with his family. Larry is an attorney with 20 years of experience handling domestic and international mergers and acquisitions. He graduated at the top of his class from the State University of New York at Albany in 1982 with a B.A. in Economics. He was a popular sportswriter and editor of the Albany Student Press. Larry developed a keen interest in social issues while attending Yale Law School, where he received his J.D. degree in 1985. He was employed by a major New York law firm before moving to Atlanta to counsel a Fortune 500 company. He wrote The Jinx while on sabbatical and is now devoted to writing fiction full time. Many of Kahn s more cynical legal clients and associates have accused him of writing fiction full time for many years.
