A history of the 1876 Gold Rush in The Black Hills, the early days of Deadwood, and the ultimate settlement of the area. By an author who what there at the time as a 20 year old prospector and was a personal acquaintance of major players like Calamity Jane and Buckskin Johnny Spaulding. He later became a writer and Rapid City Journal editor. These are his memoirs. This is a reprint of a book written early in the 20th century, and first published in 1955.
