How did this nation allow itself to degenerate to such a low ebb from the principles her founders proposed? What brought about the new idealism? How can the courts reinterpret the Constitition that formed such a solid free republic? Fredrich Nietzsche developed the theory that God is dead. He praised anyone who was brave enough to reject Christian theology. Rhode Island was the first state to grant religious freedom to all its citizens. Her governor, Roger Williams, left a legacy of religious freedom which greatly influenced the addition of the first amendment to the constitution. This nation is being reformed into an amoral society by attacking the traditional family unit. The Left believes the general population should be set free from myths, traditions, and old orthodoxy. They refuse to learn from history that no society can survive without some kind of code of conduct. The need to change public education can be seen in the contrast between the early procedures used and the methods presently in place. John Whitehead stated, "Whatever philosophy controls the educational system controls the way people will think and act."
