This is the first translation of Dogen's work:
Significance of Cultivation and Verification (Shushogi),
Recorded Words (Goroku), and Poems in the Way (Doei).
Dogen is the founder of Japanese Soto Zen, and is becoming more and more famous in his profound thoughts and pure life. This publication is a good guide to essence of his thoughts and heart. Shushogi is universally read, recited in Japan. Poems shows different aspect from his major work, the Shobogenzo. Goroku was compiled, edited and approved by authorities in Japan and China as expressing Dogen's essence.
