Lynn Lazarus Serper is fascinated by the restorative powers of the brain. She gained first-hand experience of the recovery process when she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm followed by a cerebral stroke that left her with aphasia when she was forty-eight-years-old. Her recovery allowed her a unique insight into the possibilities for mental rehabilitation, particularly in memory, language and thought.
Upon recovering and after completing her doctoral thesis, she dedicated four years developing The Serper Method, an innovative program of brain exercises. Her method is based upon her personal experience and her work with clients who are challenged by Alzheimer's disease, aphasia, anoxia, or age-related conditions. She has seen remarkable recovery as a result of her program. In addition, clients who have followed the exercises reported the delight of regaining success in their professional and social world.
"Today your [book] arrived and I sat right down and read it, straight through! It has a captivating narrative and lots of good points that need to be made. -- Professor of Human Development at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA
I think what you are doing clearly fills a vacuum that exists in the area of recovery of stroke victims and brain damaged accident victims. If there was this kind of information for caretakers when my friend had a stroke, things might have been different. -- lawyer/health manager
This is a very important book. People need this kind of information and inspiration when they are challenged by Alzheimer's disease, stroke, or neurological illnesses. -- Doctor of Rehabilitative medicine
