The basic equations for calculating pump total head, N.P.S.H., pressure head anywhere in the system and others are derived from basic principles. This is a good overall review of the subject and a good reference manual. If you have forgotten how to size a pump this manual will tell you just about everything you need to know.

About the Author
Jacques Chaurette is a mechanical engineer, graduated Bachelor of Science at Laval University, 1978. He has worked for 20 years in the pulp and paper industry in the paper machine manufacturing sector and for major consultant firms. Since 1998, he has his own consulting company specializing in pump system trouble-shooting and design as well as training.
