Composition is organization in a given space. Composition has many things to so many different people, that it becomes extremely difficult to describe is accurately in onr or two sentences. One thing is certain, composition is invisible to those who don not understand it. It is generally accepted among experts, that good composition is the basic ingredient of all art forms of painting, sculpture, architecture, drawings, interior decorating, music and photography etc. Then what is art? When I go into a Museum, and I am looking at a truly well composed painting or photograph, which sends out an incredible amount of visual energy, which gives me goose-bumps, and I can forget all about the many details of my daily life. At that point certain communication is established between that painting or photograph and myself, which I call art. (Page 3, The Power of Composition in Photography by Frank Kristian)
