Synopsis
I began collecting the stories of earlier times, as a youngster growing up on the farm near Dunchurch in central Parry Sound District ( Ontario Canada ). At first I jotted down what I heard, in notebooks, then when magnetic tape came on the scene. I began setting up recording sessions with the old timers. Initially I focused on a particular interest of mine, life in the lumber woods and in 1987 I composed an oral history, Parry Sound Logging Days from the materials. HOwever , during recording sessions my informants also talked about other aspects of life in earlier times, and that forms the basis of the main body of this book.
