From 1975 to 1985, Jim Lang (guitar) and Mary Ackroyd (fiddle) lived their dream in the music business. After ten years on the road from Los Angeles to Whitehorse to Frankfurt, Jim and Mary were joined by little Johnny, who, although only an infant, encouraged them to hang up their instruments and slow down a little. So, Jim dusted off his old teaching certificate and headed the family north. After three years of teaching and flying in Canada's Northwest Territories from 1985 to1988, Jim and Mary moved to Cameron, Ontario, a twenty-five minute flight northeast of Toronto (by Cessna 172.) The Lang & Ackroyd Band became Lang & Ackroyd Productions, Inc., which focused on producing entrepreneurship education and training resources. Ten years later, their company has four television series, two CD-ROMs and dozens of smaller productions to its credit. Papa X-Ray represents a light-hearted change for Jim as an author. His two other books in current international release, Make Your Own Breaks and Great Careers for People Who Want to be Entrepreneurs, deal with the more serious issue of taking control of one's life and work in an uncertain world. In addition to writing and producing, today Jim is in growing demand as an entertaining motivational speaker. Cyberspace visitors to Lang & Ackroyd Productions are welcome at http://www.jlang.com. Jim is still flying. Two airplanes followed Papa X-Ray, C-GPCU, a 1977 Cessna Hawk XPII and Jim's current plane, C-FRZZ, a cherry 1960 Cessna 210 which he keeps at the Lindsay Airpark, in Lindsay, Ontario. Jim and Mary's son, John - no longer "Johnny" - is now a teen-aged basketball fanatic. Having outgrown his mother, he now sits in the copilot seat, while Mary navigates from the back. After logging more than 1000 hours in the air since the age of three, John still can't figure out "what all the fuss is about."
