From the Publisher:

The author was inspired by her experience as a therapist for several veterans who suffered PTSD, as well as by the powerful autobiography of Lynda van Devanter, "Home Before Morning." Additionally, to transport herself to the place and time of the novel, she listened to the music of folk singer, Country Joe McDonald. While preparing the book for its multi-media format on CD-ROM, we sought the permission from Joe McDonald to use his inspiring music. Ironically, we discovered that the song that the author found most appropriate for this novel was inspired by and written for Lynda van Devanter! Two of Joe McDonald's wonderful songs, "Vietnam Requiem" and "Girl Next Door," embellish this poignant novel.

From the Author:

I'm not sure I can ever claim this novel is particularly entertaining. Instead, I would call it engrossing. It's an easy read, but I do believe readers will find themselves completely caught up in the lives of these characters, just as I was when they were born within my soul and forced their way onto the paper. I honestly believe this is an important book. Today, millions of Americans still suffer the psychological effects of the war in Vietnam: the veterans themselves, their spouses and ex-spouses, their parents and siblings, their children and grandchildren. My greatest wish is that this story causes at least one broken-hearted family member to sigh and say, "Oh, now I get it." I pray that my book might contribute to our national healing.
