Phil Travers, M.A., Ed.S., LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. He received his Master of Arts and Educational Specialist Degrees in counseling from James Madison University. Phil also has a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from JMU. Finding his greatest professional happiness in working directly with clients, he has counseling experience with gay and lesbian people, battered women, and men seeking to improve their relationships. Phil is currently a staff counselor for a battered women's shelter in south Texas, and he has also volunteered with the "NAMES" Project. A frequent presenter at national and international conferences, Phil is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Texas Council on Family Violence. His first book, The Counselor's Helpdesk is soon to be published by Wadsworth/ITP. Utilizing a supportive and accepting psycho-educational approach, Phil assists clients in reaching their goals through the professional counseling relationship.
