Erin Moore, dubbed the "the Hip Hopper" for her phenomenal ability to jump rope while sitting on her hips, has taken a retro sport and made it into a new hip sport that kids and adults love to do. A gymnast dancer and professional high diver, Moore exudes the positive benefits of physical fitness. While on world tour with the US Extreme High Dive Team (her specialty is the 85 foot platform dive!) Moore fell in love with jumping rope. "It's portable and the best way to keep in tip-top shape," she explains.
Erin has taken jump rope a step further and combined all of her fitness training and made an action packed jump rope performance. She has performed it from the last presidential inauguration to MTV. She also got experience jumping “down under,” at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
When Erin is not touring with the high dive team, she teaches children and adults jump rope and gives motivational assemblies/performances to schools and universities. . A certified aerobic instructor and a “real people person,” Erin has been chosen to give master classes to other instructors in the jump rope field. “Jump rope is such a great form of exercise and I know how to make it fun. I enjoy teaching others what I have learned from my years of jumping and making many mistakes.”
Erin's has a knack for working with children. She works with thousands of kids every week, teaching jump rope and giving performances to promote physical fitness. "Sports and exercise have taught me so much about life and being able to pass that on to others is very rewarding." says Erin.
Erin works with inner city children from Cabrini Green and surrounding areas, giving them the chance to participate in her jump rope club, The Jump Moore Jumpers. The club has traveled to other states to work with champion jump rope teams. "The club is not only a place to go to learn fun single rope and double dutch tricks but it is a place where these kids learn life skills." Erin works with the kids on keeping a positive self image especially when making mistakes. Erin hopes that the kids can use these and other learned skills in their everyday lives. Part of the proceeds from the video benefit these programs for kids. From the Contributor:
From Erin Moore..."I wanted to make a fun and entertaining video. I like to have fun when I workout. So I made the video in a kid-like-fun-manner. (We are all big kids anyway...right?) While working with oodles of kids and adults every week, I developed a well-rounded and fun jump rope workout. This workout teaches jump rope tricks during interval breaks, while giving a needed aerobic pause, and then has participants practice/workout during the fun jump sessions which are done to up-beat music (warning, I sing, scary). The video follows the same workout guidelines but I took a camera around the world to get entertaining shots for my video students. I had so much fun getting ‘real people’ right off the street to do fun jump session tricks. I even got a group of Scottish highland fling dancers to join in on the fun. This video is about people just like you, having fun and jumping rope. I hope you have as much fun with this video as I did making it. Than! k you.
