Synopsis

This first hand view by a well-known heart surgeon takes you with him into the action of the front-line battlefields. Dr. Davis weaves the personal stories of these heroes in writing this account which once started you cannot put down.
Stories behind the events and numerous photographs enhance the narrative as it unfolds. One heart-breaking incident from the book was later made into a movie, "The Execution of Private Eddie Slovik" starring Martin Sheen. Slovik was the only solidier ever shot for dissertion during WWII.
Dr. Davis was amazed to find that the words spoken by the actor who played the doctor, himself, were exactly those he spoke when asked to report on the execution.
Among the people with whom he came in contact during his service in WWII were Gen. George Patton, Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, Gen. Cato and many others.

About the Author
Dr. Bedford Davis was awareded the Bronze Star, The French Croix de'Guerre, and the Purple Heart. After the war he practiced thorasic surgery in Atlanta, GA for over 40 years where he still resides with his wife and family.
