Finally, a book to give you not only hope, but also practical and proven techniques on how you can parent your child and teenager effectively. Therapeutic Parenting offers:
· Creative therapeutic parenting skills to address your child’s emotional or behavioral needs
· Basic parenting tools to help you guide your child everyday
· An extensive list of possible warning signs for various childhood problems
Therapeutic Parenting is an invaluable resource you can turn to, as a preventative measure or as a hands-on support during your time of need.
The first half of the book contains primarily hypothetical situations and is intended for any parent or caretaker. This section of the book serves as a foundation for the remainder of the book, because it contains information on basic parenting skills that you'll need whether your child is occasionally oppositional or involved in illegal activities.
The second half addresses different problematic behaviors in children, and it focuses on some of the more prevalent issues that children face today. These chapters are based on the author's professional experience over the past eight years. In this part of the book, you’ll learn how to parent children effectively and “therapeutically,” and you'll learn how to communicate with them at different developmental levels.

My initial intent was to write this book based mostly on scholarly journal articles and other “technical” books written for professionals. However, as I started working on the book, I realized that most of what I wanted to say in this book came not from scholarly journals or technical books, but from my own personal and professional experience with children.
I’ve been a child therapist and an ardent advocate for children for the past eight years. This book is based on my experiences with children and their families. It’s also based on my observations during the numerous parent-training programs.
I wrote this book because of my desire to help children foremost. I wanted to help make this a better place for children where they can be healthy, happy and safe. It’s a simple goal, a dream I’ve had since I was 13 years old. But I need your help, because without your love, your hard work and your dedication to children, I’d be ineffective in my efforts. Together, we can create a better world, a better place for our children.About the Author:

She also provides therapeutic parenting skills training to biological parents, foster parents and various organizations committed to improving the lives of children and their families. An ardent advocate for children, Ms. Kim is the Clinical Director of Child & Adolescent Therapy Services in Austin, Texas and speaks out on behalf of children worldwide.
For the past eight years, she worked with countless number of biological, foster and adopted children and their parents. At times, she had the luxury of seeing some of them in her office. She also coached parents on individual basis in their home environment and taught them various creative parenting techniques. For the past couple of years, she has expanded to teaching larger groups of parents by providing parenting skills classes. Ms. Kim wrote this book with the hope that she might expand even further and reach parents worldwide. Therapeutic Parenting is based on her experiences with children and their families over the past eight years. With this book, she hopes to share these experiences, so that she may help parents become more capable and loving parents.
