In June 1994 twenty-seven Southern Patriots met together in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to form what was then called The Southern League. During its first nine years of existence, the League focused on recruiting a solid cadre of leaders, organizing State and local chapters, and raising the funds necessary to run the organisation. During these years League leadership developed and refined its worldview and objectives and the means of attaining them. This first edition of "The Grey Book" is the result. In its pages you will find the League's philosophy and a blueprint for reaching our goal of establishing the Confederation of Southern States (CSS). "The Grey Book" will be a "work in progress" because events rush on, circumstances change, and our understanding and focus sharpen over time. This first edition represents where we stand at the moment, after nearly ten years of work in the Southern Independence Movement. It is not carved in stone. It is not a legal document or constitution, but a dynamic agenda for Southern independence and renewal: political, social, cultural, and economic.
