John Newland directed and hosted this frightening and atmospheric series, which aired between 1959 and 1961. The forerunner to the better remembered "Twilight Zone", the moody photography and chilling background music of "One Step Beyond" add immeasurably to the suspense of the series, which is based on actual cases of ESP, the paranormal, and the unexplained. Mr. Newland's introduction and occasional appearances in the show add realism to every episode. In this collection, you'll enjoy six original broadcasts: The Riddle On a trip through India, a married couple encounters a beggar who seems to be different from all the others they've seen -- and the husband quickly becomes convinced that this particular beggar is trying to kill them. The Lovers Evil spirits are determined to break up the romance between Otto, a patron at a Viennese tavern, and Elsa, a beautiful waitress there. But the connection between the two lovers seems to be stronger than the spirits counted on. Anniversary of a Murder A married businessman is having a secret affair, and one night while he's driving home drunk from a rendezvous with his mistress, he runs over and kills a young boy. Goodbye Grandpa A brother and sister are devastated by the death of their grandfather, to whom they were extremely close. However, they soon begin to suspect that he may be trying to contact them from beyond the grave.
