Freddy & Flossy Flutterby is a heart-warming story of a young boy, who over the course of a very eventful day, learns some of life's most important lessons. The story begins with Freddy saving the life of a caterpillar that turns into a butterfly named Flossy Flutterby. Flossy takes Freddy and his sisters, Sue and Nan, on a remarkable journey to Betta Place where they discover an enchanting world of true peace, love and harmony inhabited by some exciting new friends, the Vegetable People. But soon after they arrive, Freddy is led astray to Junk Food Junction where the kids are mean and it's not the paradise he had thought it would be. The story teaches children not only the value of making good choices, but of the importance of family, friends and love and forgiveness.

About the Author:

For almost 30 years, Ann Douglas has taught students of all ages from New Hampshire to Georgia. She spent the 1980s and 1990s working with disenfranchised children in Savannah, Georgia and presenting workshops on self-fulfillment. She and her husband now make their home in Jesup, Georgia.

Freddy & Flossy Flutterby has its origin in the stories Ann would make up to tell her own three children, Fred, Susan and Nancy. Several years ago, under their encouragement, she committed to the task of writing and illustrating the story for publication.

The project was nearing completion when, on September 11, 2001, Ann's beloved son, Frederick John Cox, a 27-year old bond trader, was killed in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

Fred had loved the story as a child and had encouraged his mother in the creation of the book. Thus it is that Freddy & Flossy is dedicated to Fred's memory and to all those who perished on that tragic day.

"Freddy & Flossy Flutterby, is a beautiful piece of work. I can't imagine any child not being delighted with it." -- Jules Olitski, Fine Artist, July 2002
