About the Author:

Eugenia Miller is a former newspaper reporter, features and magazine writer, and has written four children's books, including "Deadline at Spook Cabin" and "Rocking Hill Road", based on real-life experiences.Years later, living in France near Versailles Palace, she befriended a tourguide who shared many stories with her about the beginning of the French Revolution, which inspired, "The Golden Spur". Encouraged by the well-known Paris artist Rene' Galant, Milller began to paint and won several prizes and awards and continues to write and paint to this day. After nearly two years of research in Amboise and at the Chateau Cloux, where da Vinci spent his last years, Miller wrote "The Sign of the Salamander."The book is in da Vinci's permanent records in France.

From AudioFile:

American teenager and history buff Henry Carter is touring France when he falls through a time portal. The next thing he knows he finds himself in sixteenth-century Amboisewith Leonardo da Vinci as his neighbor. Talmadge Ragan narrates smoothly, but her delivery lacks intensity. Her strength is her consistent use of accents and a variety of speech patterns. In particular, her performance perfectly conveys the French accents and Gallic personalities of Henry's new family, the Bonaventures. Through Henry, listeners will learn about the period and the work of da Vinci, as well as his compassion and gentle spirit. This coming-of-age story is a perfect vehicle with which to discover the history and art of the Renaissance. S.C.A. AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine
