Poetry. A whimsical and entertaining collection of haiku written about animals observed at a Minnesota Zoo. Author Michael Czarnecki makes his living as a poet, story gatherer, oral memoirist and small press publisher. He lives with his family on Wheeler Hill in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. His seven previously published books include a chapbook of haiku, "Criss-cross," and "Twenty Days on Route 20," a haibun account of a journey across America. Illustrator Debra Dick is a lettering artist and calligrapher who has completed comissions for many buisnesses, community agencies, and individuals. Her work was recently published in the Calligraphers Engagment Calendar for 2004. She teaches lettering, calligraphy, and related arts in community and school settings. She is a roster artist with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. This is her first book of broad-pen drawings.

Poet, oral memorist and small press publisher Michael Czarnecki has crafted his life and work around poetry. Author of several poetry collections inspired by nature, travel and ancient Asian poetry, he has operated FootHills Publishing in Upstate New York for over 20 years. With his family working alongside him at their rural homestead, he has published the work of hundreds of poets in chapbooks and anthologies. Czarnecki's own titles include Sea Smoke and Sand Dollars, Crisscross, Zoo Haiku and Twenty Days on Route 20.
