This guide to proper behavior at the dinner table provides an introduction to etiquette for kids and a refresher in manners for adults. Offering three tips for each letter of the alphabet, kids are asked to examine the factors that contribute to proper form. Guides Polly Politely and Milton Manners introduce kids to the correct way of handling situations such as choosing utensils at the table, passing the salt and pepper, chewing ice, and disposing of olive pits. In addition to situation-specific guidance ( Finger foods, like an airplane, need to land somewhere first. . . . No direct flights from the serving dish into the mouth ), this book provides the means for determining appropriate behavior in any situation by asking children to consider those around them

Last year a family enterprise with my 5 sensational grandchildren appeared - from out of nowhere! I truly know it was angel-guided! It began on a family road trip – a 1,000 mile vacation through Canada the summer of 2002. To pass the time among our three generations in a mini-van, the game of naming and playing with table manner ideas became our car activity. We were in restaurants several times a day, from fast-food, to linen table cloth & napkins kinds of places. We'd all watch for good examples and not-so-good examples of table manners. It kept us very busy - and laughing! When we got home, everyone went back to 'life as usual' but I felt compelled to race right to the keyboard and write. Out of this ‘close’ time together on vacation, a book on table tips was born: "You've Got Manners!~ Table Tips from A to Z for Kids of All Ages". I realized early on that what these 5 grandkids were saying were words I needed to pay attention to - and so I offered them the! option of becoming my offical Advisory Board. They all said a resounding 'yes'! They help with illustration ideas, wording, concepts for future games, videos, etc - as they sit and 'play' with ideas. In return, they each have a savings account that has been set up where they receive bonuses when we all go to booksignings ( as they are part of the presentation), and when we reach certain sales markers. In the hardbound edition there is a photo on page 58 picturing the 5-Member Advisory Board for You’ve Got Manners Enterprises, along with the author Louise Elerding ~ referred to as ‘Grandy’ by her 5 clever grandkids. Their quarterly Board meetings are generating ideas and decisions for the future of YGM Enterprises, while seeing all possibilities through the eyes of ‘kids’. We hope this effort creates a thoughtful awareness of how consideration and politeness can add another element of peace to our world.About the Author:
