Exhibit Catalogue
In an effort to inspire unusual collaborations between the wood turning and furniture fields, Cabinets of Curiosities, co-organized by the Wood Turning Center and the Furniture Society, features 14 cabinets of extraordinary diversity and intrigue created by 50 interdisciplinary artists. This exhibit was curated in reverse; submissions for unrealized cabinet concepts were received from over 90 artists. A jury selected 16 of the projects to go ahead for inclusion in the eventual exhibit a year later. The work was grueling and two teams eventaully withdrew before their cabinets were complete. The final 14 cabinets invite exploration of hidden chambers, mysterious mechanics, and intellectual traps.
This hardcover book contains incredible details about each cabinet and the stories behind them, plus a CD- ROM of bonus materials including each cabinet's inner workings.
