Solve the mysteries of nature and murder with the Johnny Blue Mystery Series. In the fourth Johnny Blue Mystery, Ironwood Forest Mystery, the Blue family return to Arizona to settle in to family life on their small ranch near Picacho Peak. A series of seemingly unrelated incidents in their personal lives leads the family to believe something sinsiter is going on in nearby Ironwood Forest National Monument.
The family enlists the help of an old friend from the first book in the series to help them solve the mystery involving immigrant smuggling, a ghost town, a secretive military base, and an old hermit woman searching for peace in the desert.
Mr. Mootz has kept the story consistent with the rest of the series with good-hearted main characters unwittingly stumbling onto seemingly innocent tragedies that turn out to be not-so-innocent. The colorful descriptions of the natural settings of souther Arizona are also consistent with the series and add positively to the mood of the book. Even with a more complicated plot line, the author's clear descriptions make the story easy to follow for fans of the amateur sleuth genre. From the Author:
This book delves much deeper into the personal lives of the main characters: Johnny Blue, his wife Marcie and their adopted son Tommy. While Marcie struggles with feelings of despair surrounding her work at her restaraunt near Picacho Peak and Tommy deals with being picked on as the new boy at school, Johnny is out chasing his own windmills again by obsessing on finding a way to the top of the seemingly insurmountable Ragged Top peak.
In addition to the main characters a couple of new major characters have been added. Mike Gerrity returns as the State Police Officer who befriended Johnny in the first novel. Dolores Samaniego is a hermit desert dweller trying to recapture the peace of her families past.
This book will have you deeply involved in all the characters.
