About the Author:

As a thirty-three year old mother of six with a high school diploma, it became apparent to Susan that without someone else s support, her family could not survive. This somber realization spurred her on to begin classes at the local community junior college with the full intent of learning how to type, never dreaming that the unknown odyssey that was being embarked upon would lead her in a direction that changed her life and her entire family s lives forever. The decision to go back to school as a returning woman forced Susan to face her feelings of self-doubt and fear of failure head on. And the prize won from this inner battle was the knowledge that one is never too old to learn, and continuing education is a path to independence and self-respect.

Susan s Path led her to where she is today, a Masters Degree Electrical Engineer, the former Dean of Academic Affairs at DeVry University in Chicago, author, owner and president of Dreamers Tapestry, Inc. the publishing company, and columnist for the Womens Linked Local Network.

It is because of her journey from homemaker to Electrical Engineer and university dean that Susan has become passionate about sharing her experiences with other women for the purpose of enlightening, motivating, and encouraging them to believe in themselves and to follow their dreams. And it is for this purpose that she takes the opportunity whenever possible, to speak to women of all ages and backgrounds. Susan's life experiences are the basis for presentations and workshops which focus on the issues of self doubt, equality and diversity women face today. Her presentations have been well received at various Women s Business and Professional Organizations, Colleges, and Universities in the U.S.

Additionally, Susan has published her autobiography Just Keep Dancing . Having been one among the 2.5 million American women per year that are abused, her book provides a look into the tapestry of her life and turbulent 20 year relationship and marriage to her childhood sweetheart, recounting how that relationship turned abusive and then ultimately violent and dangerous. Susan details the event that forced her to make a major life change. And the story of how this self awakening brought control, hope and success into her life leaves the reader with the powerful message that it truly is never too late to live happily ever after.

Review:

I had the opportunity to read Just Keep Dancing and I honor Susan's courage and willingness to share her story with others in hopes that no one will have to go through what she did -- or if they do, that they too will find the strength that she did to just keep dancin'. --Kim Wells, Corporate Alliance to End Partner Violence

I finished Just Keep Dancing over a week ago, but am just writing to you now. Any words of praise I could say would not begin to do it justice. First of all, your style is unique: brief, to the point, and powerful in every sentence and that makes the impact of the content all the stronger. And the content is riveting as it is..I knew there was going to be a happy ending and that kept me going. I think of myself as a person with a high tolerance for suffering, but your story is so totally sad and moving and I am not used to reading those types of books. It reminds me of Angela's Ashes by that Frank McCourt. When I got to the part where you write about three of your friends and supporters converging on trying to introduce you to Art a.k.a. as Butch, I thoroughly agreed with you that this had to be Providential. The earth is blessed because you two are present on it: to share your joys and sufferings with one another--and now with us, your devoted readers. --Dr. Janine Reklaitis, Associate Director, Women in Engineering Program, Purdue University

In sharing her life story with Just Keep Dancing, Susan also tells of the reality of violence issues that occur in many relationships. She tells us about the abuse in her life and how she was able to overcome it. Although domestic abuse and violence in the family is an awful thing for women, men and children to experience, Susan provides a feeling of hope for all those who experience violence or know someone who has. --April Nykaza, Ed.D.
