The 65 minute CD includes two versions of each composition. One version is complete with Edgar Gabriel performing and the other version is performed by the rhythm section minus soloist, so you can play along. String GrooveŽ is for string students, teachers and professionals who want to learn to improvise. It can also work for other musical instruments. If you combine the violin, viola and cello books, each piece can be performed by a trio or larger string ensemble. The cello book includes written out bass parts in the appendix. About the Author:

Violinist/Composer Edgar Gabriel performs, teaches and composes music in the styles of classical, jazz, fiddle and rock. He has worked with such diverse performing ensembles such as Cirque du Soleil and Steppenwolf Theater. He can be heard on numerous Cd's including Cheap Trick's "Special One", Rachel Barton Pine's "Storming the Citadel", and "The Gabriel Lawrence Inventions". His String GrooveŽ publications teach improvisation, fiddling and other styles outside of traditional violin repertoire www.stringroove.com. You can hear him perform with his group "Edgar Gabriel's StringFusion" www.stringfusion.com. Edgar is on the music faculties of Elmhurst College and William Rainey Harper College. Mr. Gabriel holds an undergraduate degree in music from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from DePaul University. www.edgargabriel.com. Edgar Gabriel resides in a suburb of Chicago with his wife Melissa and daughter Annabel.
