Author H.J. Harris presents an historical overview of the harsh treatment of black Americans, from the founding of this nation, to the racial undercurrents of the 2008 presidential election. He offers a spiritual, biblical approach to show the damage that the paradigm of slavery has done to the nation’s soul. America’s record in dealing with black Americans is presented through events such as the coup of 1898, the Declaration of White Independence, and the destruction of Black Wall Street. The author applies the Hundredth Monkey Behavior Phenomenon to understand how the slavery experience created and perpetuated certain habits, attitudes, and behaviors that presently impact black and white Americans. The subtle implication of America the Racist? is that the 2008 presidential election represents an opportunity for this country to rise above the shackles of racism and discrimination and truly become the light of the world.

From the Publisher:
Racism is traced from the birth of the United States of America where the founding fathers spoke with a forked tongue when they stated, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal . . . with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." The author shows how the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were impacted by signers who owned slaves and endorsed slavery. He presents substantial evidence that many of the framers of the Declaration of Independence never intended for black Americans to participate in the benefits of freedom and equality in America. America's history and record in dealing with black Americans is presented, pointing out key events such as the coup of 1898, the Declaration of White Independence, and the destruction of Black Wall Street, where military aircraft were used to bomb the homes and businesses of black Americans. The author applies the Hundredth Monkey Behavior Phenomenon to get an understanding of how the vicious slavery experience created and perpetuated certain behaviors which continue to impact black and white Americans to this day. There is a detailed treatment of the Slave Making process. The speech of Willie Lynch was the tip of the slave-making iceberg. The detailed, raw process of breaking the mind, body, and spirit of the Kidnapped Africans will shock the reader's sensibilities. An unusual perspective of the Civil War is presented. Americans often refer to the Civil War as a war to free the slaves. In reality, the Civil War was started by slave-owning southern Americans seeking to consolidate and preserve their robust slave based economy. Freeing the slaves was more of a military tactic than a moral revelation.

A very human face is put on the Reconstruction period after the Civil War. The condition of the newly freed slaves morphed into a new slavery that was more subtle, but just as painful. The book brings the reader to the 21st Century where public schools are re-segregating and the world is shocked at the callousness of the way black Americans were treated after hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

Finally, the author examines the prospects for America's future. "Does America have the Moral Authority to promote life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to other people and countries when it still has not and cannot implement, promote and guarantee those same inalienable rights to its own citizens - black Americans?"

As America dominates the world stage, it becomes absolutely necessary, to resolve the spiritual and moral contradictions that undermine its international credibility. When we look at the past, the vile and brutal things this country - white Americans in power - has done historically to its black American citizens, we see that America does not enter the international arena with Clean Hands.

America must choose to free itself from the Paradigm of Slavery and replace it with a Paradigm of Freedom and Justice.

The 2008 presidential election represents an opportunity for this country to rise above the shackles of racism and discrimination and put on the full armor of truth and justice.

America can become the light of world.

From the Back Cover:
And so America By H J Harris

When the rains of truth fall upon your naked body, and the flood of tears of a million captive souls comes upon your barren shores, and the winds of justice and equality beat upon all that you have created, Will America stand before the eternal judge, as a testament to the glory of man's humanity to man? Or, will it fall as yet another broken promise that men offer up to their God, and be plowed into the earth as though it never was? The answer America is not in our stars, but in ourselves Amen!
