In the very first sentence of The Seventh Seal, the reader is introduced to Justin Scott, a retired FBI agent as he receives a call from a very worried chief of staff at the Vatican Embassy. In a voice barely above a whisper, the man informs Justin that the papal ambassador, Francis Cardinal Kettering, has apparently murdered a young woman in the District of Columbia the night before. He further confides that he is calling at the behest of the secretary of state who realizes the Church is in desperate need of advice — and is asking for Justin by name...As Justin wends his way ever closer to the truth, he, too, becomes a target for murder. Several attempts are made on his life by forces bent on stopping him from learning the terrible secret that had cost Maritha her life. His quest takes him to the very steps of the Throne of Peter, then back to Washington DC to confront Maritha’s murderer in a cat-and-mouse stalking that plays to a deadly finish on the meanest streets of the nation’s capital.

From the Author:
The Twilight of the Day was my first novel and it took me fifteen years to complete. The subject matter - POWs from the Vietnam War - was something visceral with me. I lost many pilot-friends in that conflict, some I knew to be dead, but there were those others who disappeared from the face of the earth and never heard from again. Those were the men who haunted my thoughts. What if some of those pilots had indeed been captives held in Hanoi, not repatriated at the end of the war but sold to a third country? What could possibly be a motive for such reprehensible and cruel conduct?A germ of an idea was born. I now had the grist for the novel I felt compelled to write.

My next novel was The Seventh Seal and the idea for the book came to me in a flash while editing The Twilight of the Day. What if an ambassador to the United States was accused of murdering a woman in Washington, D.C.? But not just any ambassador. No, he is Francis Cardinal Kettering, ambassador from the Vatican, and all signs point to him being guilty as charged. But ambassadors have diplomatic immunity, so will Kettering simply flee, or will he remain to face trial and, if found guilty, cause a possible irreparable rent to the very fabric of the Church itself?
From the Back Cover:
What dread secret is the Vatican protecting at all costs? Which lives will be sacrificed to keep an awful truth buried behind a code of silence?
