Born in Boston in 1954 and raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts, Lansing Day was educated in the Wellesley Public Schools, at Dexter School in Brookline, and at Belmont Hill School in Belmont, MA. Having graduated from Hobart College in 1977, he was educated at the University of Iowa, where he studied with the poets Andrew Hudgins and Gerald Stern.
Lansing Day has spent most of his working life teaching, first in Boston; in Madrid, Spain; and then (for nine years) at a Montessori School in Ithaca, NY. Most recently he did accounting/marketing work for a farm winery in upstate New York. Presently he makes a living as a consultant, facilitating team building experiences using drums and improvisational movement.
