People have fussed over the relationship of ethics and business for as long as organizations have existed. This text is designed to be used with The GG Ethics Game, a web-based simulation, which allows participants to assume leadership roles in a fictitous organization or company. The leadership team must solve a set of problems which are typical of those facing people in management structures in the US and around the world. The thesis of this book and the accompanying simulation is that the vast majority of people want to become effective ethical agents. However, they are rarely given either the opportunity to examine their beliefs or training in how to develop their ethical skills. The simulation is designed to imitate life by allowing partipants to try unfamiliar decision making models and receive feedback---while having a bit of fun. They will learn to increase both their self-knowledge as well as understanding of their community. The simulation may be used as a part of a traditional undergraduate or graduate ethics class or to facilitate a company's leadership or ethics training.

Catharyn A. Baird is Professor of Business at Regis University, Denver, Colorado, and the President/CEO of CB Resources, LLC, the parent company of CB Presents. Her interest in ethics was piqued while teaching business professionals struggling to do the right thing within their complex business environments. Pursuing that interest at Regis, she developed a unique approach to resolving ethical dilemmas which sparked the development of The GG Ethics Game, an interactive web-based ethics simulation and provided the framework for teaching her students in the university's business and health care programs. Insights gained from business professional and students enriched the content of this book. Over the years Baird has also conducted workshops in a variety of environments. This has given her the opportunity to walk the talk; and experience the challeges of creating ethical environments while honoring the individuality and gifts of the participants. After graduating from law school, Baird practiced law for ten years before joining the faculty at Regis University. From 1987-1995 she also was in-house counsel for the Colorado Secretary of State, specializing in election law. Over the course of her tenure, she has held a variety of administrative positions at Regis. In 2000 she was named Regis University Faculty Member of the year.
