So many times girls have the same drive and ambition to play hockey as the boys, but are compelled to begin their skating careers in figure skating. Keeping true to the ideal of Kimberly Jo Simac's first book, When I Grow Up I'm Going To Be A Hockey Star, Girls Play Hockey Too! shows the progression of a young girl attaining her dream from figure skating to playing hockey. Illustrator Emily Gritt again captures the essence and spirit of a child's dream being fulfilled.
Follow Simac's story where girls learn that with determination and persistence they can achieve any aspiration they focus their attention to. The lasting impression that participation in hockey will leave on young girls will resound throughout all aspects of their lives well into the future.

Kimberly Simac, along with husband Butch, has raised nine children, all who have played hockey, including Kim and Butch.
Kim and Butch's children began their hockey careers at the Eagle River Sports Arena in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Labeled "The Greatest Rink on Earth" by the family, the German designed wood domed arena was built in 1933 by volunteer carpenters and was one of the first indoor rinks in the state. Home of the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame, Eagle River is an ideal proving ground for all young hockey players.
When asked about the huge committment and sacrifices the sport of hockey demands on parents, Kim says she wouldn't trade a minute of her time spent on hockey. "All the great years spent with our family and friends at rinks around the country have resulted in a treasure of memories."
"Hockey raises superior youth and allows parents to keep in tune with them, every step of the way."
