Artistic Director Russ Tutterow and Former Producing Director and current Goodman Theatre Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship recipient Ann Filmer will serve as editors of the anthology. "Publishing an anthology of Chicago plays has been a goal of mine for a long time," states Ann Filmer. "This is the best way for these plays to live on and become a part of the American theatre repertory." The anthology, which will be sold nationally, also will include profiles of the theatres that first produced the plays selected. “This is a unique opportunity to celebrate not just our playwrights, but also our theatre community that is committed to bringing their works to life,” said Mr. Tutterow. As one of a handful of theatres in the country that is exclusively dedicated to developing and producing new plays and playwrights, Chicago Dramatists has grown to assume a local and national leadership position in the development of new work. Theatres and audiences regularly look to Chicago Dramatists for the newest plays and most promising playwrights. “It’s only natural that Chicago Dramatists will publish the first anthology ever to focus on new plays by Chicago playwrights, and on the gutsy Chicago theatres that first produced them. We couldn’t be more proud,” said Managing Director Brian Loevner.
