Harpsichordists Katherine Westine and Phebe Craig established a small recording and publishing company in 1993 which features an eclectic line of early music recordings and educational materials. They have produced four play-along books/CDs The DiscContinuo series: 3 play-along CDs for treble instruments, with sheet music and performance guide; and The Duet Yourself, a play-along CD with sheet music for pianists). Their most recent publication is The Dance at a Glance, a Musicianís Guide to Baroque Dances and is a result of their work both as active musicians, and as teachers.
Katherine Westine holds a Music History degree from the University of Washington and a Masterís Degree in organ performance from Lone Mountain College in San Francisco and has done post-graduate study in early music for harpsichord, clavichord and organ with Harald Vogel at the Norddeutsche Orgelakademie in Germany. Ms. Westine performs and teaches in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to teaching in her studio in Oakland, she is on the faculty at the Jazzschool in Berkeley, is a past president of the Alameda Branch of MTAC, and is founder of the Florio Street Concerts in Oakland. She is a member of the ensembles Nota Bene and La Foolia.
Phebe Craig studied in Berlin, Brussels and San Francisco. She teaches at the University of California at Davis and is the Director of the Baroque Workshop for San Francisco Early Music Society. She has performed at the Carmel Bach Festival, the Regensburg Tage Alter Musik, and the Berkeley Baroque Festival. Ms. Craig has performed and recorded with many Early Music ensembles such as American Bach Soloists, the Arcangeli Baroque Strings, Concerto Amabile, New York State Baroque, and La Foolia.
