Like most ten-year-olds, Jair's concerns are innocent, yet both simple and complex. From the joyful anticipation of Christmas to attending a new middle school, he lives a typical self-centered child's life. Then his parent's ugly secrets are revealed, and Jair is forced to grow up quickly and take on the burden of trying to mend the jagged tears in his family's coat of many colors. The journey begins as he suffers through the loss of a beloved family member. He then battles a domineering, religous fanatic of an older brother, and wrestles with issues of lust and sexuality, all while fighting to excel in a xenophobic rich man's sport. "Enigma's Child" is haild as the birth of Neo-Lit, a break through literary form combining the best of traditional stlye writing, a gritty modern day story, and urban reality. It is a story of self-discovery, self-doubt, and subesquently triumph over adversity as Jair is willing to settle for nothing less than the reuniting of his family.
