Lost stories are historically preserved in this collection of accounts from the lives of the people on the Arizona frontier. From interviews, initially to gather material for writing projects now finished or long forgotten, and seldom for the specific purpose of recording any one person's life story. It was soon apparent that these irreplaceable and unique voices should be preserved and shared. Some of the interviewees told stories of the same events, but from different perspectives. This caused the author to go to newspaper records or county documents to gain yet another view of "the way we were." This collection is the culmination of these sources combined. Memories are fragile and newspaper sources sometimes slanted, but it was felt these tales, whether lore or legend, need to be preserved.
