9780978533496: Jesus, Krishna, Buddha and Lao Tzu: The Parallel Sayings

This book organizes hundres of sayings attributed to Jesus, Buddha, Krishna and Lao Tzu into topices such as, "The Great Way" and God, Tao and Universal Mind," and assembles the sayings into four parallel columns for easy reference. Edited from over fifty ancient Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and Taoist texts, Parallel Sayings demonstrates the common thread that runs through all mystical traditions. The author/editor prefaces each top with an introduction that is insightful and sends a powerful message that will be welcomed by all who seek the truth within, and within their own spiritual tradition.

About the Author:

Richard Hooper is a former Lutheran pastor with degrees in both theology and the philosophy of world religions. Once a nationally syndicated radio commentator on religion, Hooper is now a columnist for Uniter Press International's web forum: ReligionandSpirituality.com, and has recently founded The Sedona Institute for Comparative Theology. His other books include, The Crucifixion of Mary Magdalene and The Gospel of the Unknown Jesus.

Review:

"A much needed journey into the minds and hearts of the great prophets of our world; academic, yet heart filled, stimulating and illuminating . . . This rare text answers many questions others leave hanging, and touchs the spirit as well as the mind." --Alan Cohen, author, A Deep Breath of Life, and contributing author of Chicken Soup for the Soul

I was much taken by the idea of this book when I first learned it was in the making, but the execution of it--the reality of it--is just wonderful. Its publication is a truly timely event, bound to nourish those who are soul-weary of combativeness in the name of religion. --Carol Lee Flinders, Ph.D, author of Enduring Lives: Portrait of Women and Faith in Action

Richard Hooper shatters any preconceived notions that there is only "one way" to enlightenment. Instead, he blazes a pather of collective understanding beyond dogma toward finding the divinity with ourselves." --Judy Martin, National Radio Journalist and found of WorkLifeMonitor.com
